We moved here almost a decade ago and we’ve come to love it but there are definitely some things our relocation clients sometimes have a hard time with.
❄️ FOUR SEASONS
Sometimes all in one day. Hail in the spring and summer and occasional snow storms in the winter.
Our winters are generally mild compared to the Midwest but if you’re coming from somewhere like Phoenix or Houston you might be in for a treat.
🍴 CHAIN RESTAURANTS
Before I get eaten up in the comments again… let me just preface this by saying there are definitely good food spots in the Springs but we have more chain restaurants than we should. In my humble opinion.
If you come from a city with lots of unique food spots, you may struggle a bit.
🇺🇸 POLITICS
Colorado is a blue state but there is a lot of red in Colorado Springs. I personally mind my business and don’t get into political debates with anyone but this is something you should know.
🏜️ IT IS DRY
If you don’t have dry skin, you might develop it here. It is dry here! Anyone coming from a humid place is going to feel it immediately. It takes some getting used to but lots of water, humidifier in your house and the right products will go a long way.
🏔️ THE AIR IS THIN
Colorado Springs sits 6000’ above sea level. So be prepared to feel out of breath and possibly even get altitude sickness. If you struggle with high BP or heart issues you may have to consult your doctor before making a move.
